It is expected that we will receive our Letter of Approval/Confirmation this coming week. Afterwards, there are still several more steps to complete (more paperwork) before the process will be completed and we are invited to travel to China to get Yi Yuan! We are hoping by the end of March.

The local paper did a very nice article this weekend about us and we appreciate the chance to share our story. Here is the link:
http://www.dailyrepublic.com/news/features-local/family-finds-unique-ways-to-raise-funds-for-international-adoption/

While this is exciting, it also means we need to continue to ask for fundraising help, and quickly. We have current fees due to our agency in the amount of $11,000 . (Plus travel expenses) I am so very blessed for the help and support we have already received, and know we are grateful for each and every dollar, purchase, shoe donation and even prayers.

Please share or forward this link, so we can get Yi Yuan home.
He is waiting, but he cannot wait much longer. In his last video he asked that we "come quickly, to bring me home to Amercia". Let's make that happen together!
I am not sure anyone stills visits this blog, as it's been three years since my last update, and I think everyone is on some form of social media...Facebook, etc. So, this is just a little update, and maybe some of you are still checking, or new ones of you are!

A lot of things have changed and a lot have remained the same in the Ramsell household in three years! Delaney is now 11 years old and in 6th grade! Where we live, 6th grade is still elementary school, which I am glad about. Delaney is an above straight A student! She has been on the honor roll since receiving letter grades in 4th grade. She works very hard, and much of it is fueled by her competitive nature!

Speaking of being competitive, my little athlete has made tremendous strides in sports! She has been playing comp soccer for three years now and this year, switched to an elite club. It was hard decision for her, but she's happy on the new team and her development as a player has grown leaps and bounds! She has also been ranked as USTA tennis player! She's 156, but she's ranked! This summer, she either won or placed second in every tournament she was in, even winning a tournament on my birthday "for me"!!
Little Missy is now a Cadette Girl Scout and last year earned her Bronze Award as a Junior. It is the highest award a Junior Girl Scout can earn. She and her troop members worked all year building a bench in honor of Shae, their former girl scout sister. Shae was also Delaney's best friend since kindy. In second grade, Shae was disgnosed with brain cancer. Our sweet Warrior Angel fought a tremendous fight for over two years, but God called her home last summer. The girls wanted to remember her by building a purple bench to put in the school hallway outside the cafeteria. Purple was Shae's favorite color. I am always so proud to walk by the bench at school, and we always smile and laugh thinking of our sweet Shae Shae.

We have BIG BIG news!! Last winter, in Feb/March, we hosted a 12 year old boy from an orphanage in China. Yiyuan is an awesome kid, and we all fell in love...so we decided to make him part of our family! I have been doing the paperwork chase that's needed for another international adoption all year, and am just about ready to send my dossier to China! Fundraising has also taken up a lot time! As many know, international adoptions cost over $30,000, so I have been busy piecing together the funds to cover all the fees involved! Used shoe drive, home and online parties, t-shirt sales, online auction, applying for grants...whew! Tired thinking about it all! But we are so excited get Yiyuan home to us, his forever family and give him a chance in life. He has the sweetest heart, loves Justin Beiber, basketball, pizza and hamburger and fries. His favorite colors are orange and lime green! And, he loves his Mei Mei...little sister in Chinese. My dad is so excited, and he kept asking, "We're keeping him, right?" My mom is happy to have another grandchild! It was tough to say goodbye for awhile! Currently, I will be setting up a new fundraiser, that I will post here in a few days, where you can purchase some great holiday gifts!!
(hint hint!)
Well, I knew when I started this blog I would get behind on posting, and now thanks to FB.....well, I know many of you are there, as well.

Since the new year we've been fairly busy with school activities, and fundraisers, we had Carnaval! That was so much fun..(I'll add pics shortly)..and....we had the BIG 6TH Birthday Rock Star Party Bash at the gymnastics center in Feb!!! Luckily the theme changed from SpongeBob to Rock Star, thanks to a visit to Party City! Super fun party and Mommy took some time off to volunteer at school on her acutal b-day as well take her to paint her own pottery. (Thanks to a gift card I won at the last school fundraiser...see a theme here??? ugh.) I also dusted off the sewing machine and MADE LM a dress for her birthday! It's on the far left had side of the sofa in her "loot" photo! Not too bad for all these years of not sewing, I might say!

We have been sick most of March but are all on the mend now! My mom had to be taken to the ER, but all is well! Most of LM's class was out all month! I am sure one of those kindergartner's is responisble for my ails!! he he! Dehydrated from having stomach thing.....so Delaney stayed over at the neighbor's while I went back to the hospital. Our neighbors said she could spend the night, but just when we got back from the hospital, our neighbors called to say Delaney wanted to come home. It was 11:30 pm, and I know she was worried about her grandma, so I went across the street to get her. She got to see my mom and I let her sleep with me. Then she was hungry....so now it's almost midnight.....
(make sure you have read the previous post...)
I say, "Baby, as soon as you are done with your snack we are going to sleep, it's almost midnight." This look of excitement comes over my little spy's face as it lights up.....
"MAYBE I WILL SEE THE RED DUCK!!!!!!"
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 292px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigP3iqzuZWuA63UVgoXZjNS0iEIWE1E8pEbtU5AeH5a2hmQEh768Z-M-Y561BJsA472wzYd6E4vFmW00JTjNkgD1y2TDRITWGchGTVdO9J2hNojY7tDUV-ggJRVdn8YQ4RqZd9K6ia1aeP/s320/red+duck.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5477281441836753746" />CYNDI ~ DELANEY'S MOMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01733083240590052546noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4398436769393833738.post-35231655459363728392010-05-17T17:43:00.000-07:002010-05-17T18:47:42.603-07:00The Spy Who Knew A Lot(Post preface: Delaney and I play "Spy" a lot. And as you know, all good spies have secret codes for different reasons. One need for a secret code is to be able to identify yourself to other spies and vice versa. We have created several spy codes for all the various reasons a spy might need a code....) (I also need to preface that I always tell her Mommy knows Everything...which she believes whole-heartedly, I think...)

We were driving in the car the other day and Little Missy says, "Mom, I know you know Everything, but I know a lot, too.)

Me: "Oh, you do? What do you know?"
LM: "I know cheese on salad tastes good. I know oranges have belly buttons. And, I know The Red Duck Flies at Midnight." Failed relationships, failed female reproductive parts, failed domestic adoption….mountains of paperwork, LOOONG flights to Siberia, the waiting, standing before a Russian judge to convince her I was worthy of parenting a child from Russia…

A day does not go by that I thank Russia for giving me the child I always dreamed of, or think of the woman who gave her life. My daughter is every single thing I thought my daughter would be. She is happy, she is healthy, she is smart, and she loves me, she sings as she picks up her toys, she is beauitful, she crawls into bed with me at 5am every morning. ALL children love their parents, even when they cannot express it. And while Delaney spent the first 18 months of her life in a tiny orphanage in Siberia, she is well adjusted and loves that she is Russian and when she sees a picture of St. Basil’s she screams, “That’s My Russia!”

We are lucky and blessed. Delaney was lucky to be well cared for and nurtured by her caretakers before it was my turn. I prepared for the child to be mine, however, to come to me with difficulties from a life she did not choose. I knew that it was entirely possible I would spend time helping her heal, teaching her what it meant to have a family and a Mommy. This is the reality for many who come home and for the parents who take on that responsibility. I actually was not prepared for how advanced she was and is…yesterday she explained to me what a washer is, and not what you clean your clothes in! The washer that is related to nuts and bolts and screws! She excels in gymnastics, takes dance and is playing soccer. She loves swimming and wants to learn the violin and how to speak Spanish.

And for as much as I gush about our life, about how much joy she brings me and about how much she makes me laugh, the truth is parenting is hard, period. Add in adoption, add in post-institutionalized issues, add in adjustment issues, and it’s even harder. I work full-time. I have a long commute. I am a single parent.

When I get home she wants to play, and she wants to go for a walk and she wants dinner…..when she is overly tired she melts down about the silliest of things, and when her feelings are hurt she is sad. When she gets a shot she looks at me as if I have the ability to make the pain stop…oh, that’s so hard! I feel guilty when I put her in a timeout even though she broke a rule, I feel guilty when I yell at her because I am overly tired and she doesn’t understand why I yelled, I don’t understand why I yelled……I make pancakes with chocolate chips and let her jump in rain puddles. We make a heart shaped cake on our Family Day and write “I love you” on it. I drive her to dance class on Wednesdays, soccer on Saturday mornings when I want to sleep in. She broke my computer’s disk drive by leaning on it. When she was 22 months she pulled a corral beaded anklet off my leg I had custom made in Hawaii. We sing the Sponge Bob song really loud in the car and race to the front door when we get out of the car. I let her *drive* the car down the street….we both love Sheryl Crowe, and Dora. She loves our Family Night movies….I taught her all the words to Horse With No Name when she was three…we both love cheese. We have watched Bolt 178 times (maybe). Once she woke up with 105 fever and thought she was seeing bugs eveywhere, I was terrified. Once she came downstairs to go out to play wearing her lifevest, I was rolling on the floor laughing. Last year at school the kids wrote why they loved their Mommies for Mother's Day..."becasue she is the best Mom who came to get me." She and the little girl are good friends and A has stayed over at our house out of necessity twice, but I dont' think Delaney considered it a true sleep over since it was when my neighbor had her baby boy.

She had dance then we got home and gathered her things. "Mom.... backpack, check, sleeping bag, check, hair brush, check, pillow, check, fruit snacks, check...." I walked her across the street and she barely gave me a kiss g-bye! Geez, make your Mother feel good, why dont' you?

My neighbor said she put them to bed at 8 pm and they stayed awake talking until 10 pm! Soooo cute, guess they were heard talking about school, ice skating, SpongeBob and playing the Wii. This is all too fast, all this growing up!!!!!!!!!!!! MAKE IT STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (on the other hand, I had a quiet dinner, a glass of wine and watched American Idol in peace!)
A few words before departing....
CYNDI ~ DELANEY'S MOMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01733083240590052546noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4398436769393833738.post-44653226738104109682010-02-27T21:46:00.000-08:002010-02-28T11:17:21.997-08:00Can you do this?????Finally....she's been trying, REALLY trying, for well over a year....not one by any other went unnoticed, not only that someone could do it, but more specifically that SHE could NOT! Really, it's 2010 !!!!
Hope you are all looking forward to a good year for yourselves and the world! Let's pray things look up for us all !!

We spent New Year's Eve at Holiday in the Park at Discovery Kingdom! It was fun, we went with our neighbors, so I got to ride on some coasters this time! I often have to skip becasue there is either no one ot watch the kids or no one to ride with me, and we all know it's WAY more fun to scream bloody murder with friends!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-Mm0BEwurmeH76kFcU05BvvYAQqW6-y_zSlu75z3klVLipfnO31SM8Ak2eNeJS-TM55QmILiL3iAgeMjmd381h5pm03C6Qg9A5xwDV-KQjirMUpN-RTY_xT2GG0s6TE7hIYtOR3SMwj1o/s320/waiting+to+ride+train+sm.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5424545276333333090" />
Delaney played and won her first "amusement" park game...that's what she is holding, her little friend was not happy about that, had the roles been reserved, Little Missy would not have been happy! Of course, you can't just go into Target or Macy's and ONLY look at the ONE thing you saw in the advertisement!

My mom and I did find our ad items, but we also checked out the other departments and my mom ended up buying this adorable robe for Delaney. "I've never had a robe before!" (well, she had a swim cover-up we called a robe, but she's right, first robe!)<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzCMFWuvZA-8YOwUBF-RY3MzIKwjlG-AQbW2gSOYFJhNyzSk8M6pMFvFZmiBHV4or_ju1W6HA-PY4JlgMX1ZBasTi-swRy27J7SkV7ngOh8cHNecgIdFG8Ju3mOzt5CpnOBidurEF-wNaA/s320/robe+front+sm.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5402908002549820162" />

Who would have thought she would love it SOOO much! That child has not taken that *adorbale* robe off for three days!! She almost went to school in it! Last night she fell asleep in it and when I carried her up to bed and took it off.....well, let's just say that little 4 year old unleashed the devil on me!! he he!!

It IS very soft and cozy and pink...and did I say *adorable*? I'm thinking not so much anymore......
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjFVNMpoLy6FvJ9hSxA1ga9Ee_vgnVVyvxds_g3B_WPHFV9Ufi8RNThFLLwUGULQ41YqBA93C7lgo4SR6qVHlyp9Td2zGWRmsihlh1LKC33cB4tOANRRijjzIWH6pzSCh1-LXKSvRJ-Pxa/s320/robe+back+sm.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5402907999107220738" />CYNDI ~ DELANEY'S MOMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01733083240590052546noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4398436769393833738.post-661001750663584402009-10-20T10:39:00.000-07:002009-10-20T10:57:45.098-07:00The Very Scary Witch!Little Missy has chosen to be a witch for Halloween...a "SCARY" witch. It is our little ritual we do everyday and we both love it! he he!

As I was dressing this morning, she was laying on my bed, eating cereal from the box.. and she was smiling, almost laughing. When I inquired about the source of her early morning happiness, she said, "I am glad you are going to work!" "What?" My child that begs me to stay home for 100 days and is estatic when I take time off and is sad on Mondays.....and calls me at work to say, "I miss you," and walks around carrying my picture when I am gone? Mommy must know more....

When I asked why this sudden change of heart, she said, "Because you going to work gives us money to put food on our plates. And, Mom, I like to eat!"

Thus the learned wisdom of a four-year-old!
(Here she is with our Family Day pajama party "Feast" in August.)
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWjl-_8-COGX9yWo3dnCI4Xlc-0hONyo-Xc0iAlFaOwjL0sY9zjJ_ryjsHjdl7aGG0ZzB9nbvd2sBy3oqMCrvxA0ACni7J9dMgj22VJ8edz4CMrJ2ew4Dt0HaqQgngNBVtUf5lGgNFKYD7/s320/Family+Day+3+2009+052.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5390339114048778338" />CYNDI ~ DELANEY'S MOMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01733083240590052546noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4398436769393833738.post-57430733929201248532009-09-29T12:45:00.000-07:002009-09-29T13:14:05.361-07:00The Official Soccer Picture!Here is Little Missy's "official" soccer picture. Mrs. Beckham! I asked her Saturday after soccer if she felt like David Beckham.....she played even better than before, and is very fast! She smiled and said, "like the girl in the movie?" And I said "Yes," then she said, "The girl with brown skin or the girl with skin like me?"
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 206px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgEw6kJW_8X37Xx9LKDL2NF7BKkB5ONgxVgJKT3phyphenhyphenzi_HeNCnCGjNStMHu428HnnNdd2UnMSP2Fgrxc9FXy8AZrPWaQWrtZTAWahqaM0Ob67hnnVsSBXAv6IepC2UVuuii5OuHFHd1RcK/s320/Delaney+Soccer+2009++2+copy.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5386979708279301874" />

I swear every conversation with that child takes an unexpected turn, not right or left, even, just an unexpected turn......you'd think I would know by now...he he!

Up next, her dance performance pics from this weekend, also. Wouldn't you know, Always-Camera-Ready-Mommy had a dead battery in both the video camera and the still camera! Luckily, another Mom said she will share her pics with me and took some of Delaney on stage! Thank goodness for other Always-Camera-Ready-Mommies!! I think my friend, Ray, said once, Watch out for a Mom with a camera!!!CYNDI ~ DELANEY'S MOMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01733083240590052546noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4398436769393833738.post-55636226839096495232009-09-14T15:47:00.000-07:002009-09-14T16:10:10.790-07:00Bend It Like Beckham!!<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtGUz7S2gQ3KJuvfx451OzV733niCJcFkj-mZEZsmQxzwLCebditAxrA4SYhoVFS9DeVCdmvz6nQDMnM-WDo4lJMLXE-dOAAttB-Pkx4ovH-ozIVsTAehEOjQYG6DXzQFUSM2f9L6UF2JQ/s320/Soccer+Frist+Day+001.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5381463929071445266" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRpQ1VuQEaQnJvUrz28X-enVFEytkxuOqce6lL4U3_QbqzU0r6fMMa6sqNhP702yAK_jK1IFfJqCSK3a3WogGmlATfZwYqE040_Z7OdiLXAle5_97oRw8L7Z-32bAFf6Kzb03aDB2SQUOz/s320/Soccer+Frist+Day+008+SM.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5381463347455312002" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjurrOtV0OAlKAfbZoGC2pbVXY8UeVl1OIhWJ9jnNG94sYTPHXfVzW1EC8Z8Iha-2C4C5LilptVgFzQlDP2R_V_tKMcqZJ1b8aCI33PI9LXRjTUV_ET38QX-D0_1QIPrfGvBl4MlKx11vYJ/s320/Soccer+Frist+Day+007+SM.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5381463342439389618" />
Little Missy has been sooooo EXCITED to start soccer and the day finally arrived Saturday!
